OS ∆ OOS

Perspective no. 2

Perspective No. 2, a room partition, explores the depiction of volume and spatial relationships on a flat surface through shifting transparencies. It highlights how different viewpoints create unique visual effects. The interplay of the piece's light-filtering foils and glass surfaces generates varying degrees of density and transparency.

Composed of simplified, self-supporting forms, Perspective No. 2 utilizes the triangle as a core element. This triangular structure allows for the manipulation of light transmission as it passes through the surfaces.

This particular piece incorporates movement within itself. Rotating one or both of its circular discs modifies the levels of transparency, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Perspective No. 2 relies on ambient light, using the filters to materialize its immateriality. By manipulating the passage of light waves—both vertically and horizontally—the user can effectively "touch" light, making it feel tangible.

OS ∆ OOS has long been captivated by the manipulation of light. With Perspective No. 2, this fascination reaches a new scale, creating a room divider designed to interact dynamically with its surroundings.

ADDITION presents resonant works by emerging and established Canadian artists alongside international trailblazers in art, design, and object making, where art history, material culture, and contemporary innovation intersect.

Situated in Vancouver’s Armoury / Design District at 1675 West 2nd Avenue, ADDITION fosters dialogue between art, design, and spatial practice, connecting creators, collectors, and the evolving narratives that shape our shared visual landscape. Upcoming programming includes exhibitions in Mexico City and Lima, Peru.

We acknowledge that ADDITION operates on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations and recognize the enduring stewardship and cultural vitality of these communities, whose histories remain integral to Vancouver’s creative identity and continue to inform artistic dialogues across Canada and beyond.
