Roy Leadbeater (Canadian 1928 - 2017), a distinguished Edmonton sculptor and painter, was celebrated for his innovative and varied works. Famous for his unique, angular sculptures, he created notable pieces like "Genesis" in the Citadel Theatre's garden and the extensive "Aurora’s Dance" on 104 Street. Beginning his career in the British merchant marine and later in the Palestine police force, these experiences deeply influenced his artistic style.

After settling in Canada, Leadbeater became a prominent sculptor, with his art prominently displayed across Edmonton, including the “Genesis” disc, “Ocean Moon” at the Marriott Thornton Court Hotel, and a significant cross at St. Michael’s Cemetery. His work, sought after during Alberta's oil boom, included commissions from notable individuals like Pat Bowlen of the Denver Broncos.
